Creating a Dream Room

Since I started my internship at Furnitureland South, I have spent a lot of time in the galleries and have begun to discover some of my favorite styles. This week I have been really fortunate to help set up the new Baker gallery and I must say, I love what I’m seeing!

The Baker Furniture gallery at Furnitureland South has several different designer collections, such as Barbara Barry, Laura Kirar, Michael S. Smith, and more. And it’s amazing – each piece of furniture is truly a work of art! Baker offers a plethora of options for customizing furniture with nailhead trim, fabrics, finishes and sizes, so any piece can be exactly as you imagine it and will fit beautifully with others. Take a look at the Dream Room I’ve created with their beautiful furniture.

{Bottomley Chair}

{Bottomley Chair}

One of my favorite pieces is this chair from the Bill Sofield Collection, called the Bottomley Chair. Its sleek lines give it a suave, contemporary look and it can easily take on either a masculine or feminine feel depending on the fabric and nailhead options. And did I mention how comfortable it is?

{Palo Alto Server}

{Palo Alto Server}

I think the Palo Alto server from the Barbara Barry collection is another gorgeous piece. I love the sleek design and customizable options for finish and metal. The piece is beautiful on its own, and the shelf is great for displaying your most valued treasures.

{Oval Cocktail Table}

{Oval Cocktail Table}

Sticking to Barbara Barry’s designs and dark wood finishes, this oval coffee table would fit beautifully with the other pieces and help give the room a more eclectic look. A rounded coffee table is a great change from the more angular pieces you may have selected for your room. And they’re easier to navigate around {no more nasty bruises on your shins!} and help create more open space.

{Churchill Loveseat}

With all these dark finishes, I think a light sofa will help to keep the room airy and open. I love the Churchill Loveseat from the Michael S. Smith collection. Using an off-white upholstery fabric is more practical than bright white, but still creates the same airy effect. The loveseat has a matching sofa, and both versions have great overstuffed cushions that make the piece comfortable and inviting.

Now to add some color to the room! Baker offers tons of great fabrics in various colors and patterns. There are geometric, neutral options like the pillows above, or they could be replaced with a bright purple or orange, flowers or animal print … any number of other choices! One of the many things I like about Baker is that they often pair neutral tones on upholstered pieces with fun, vibrant pillows and accents.

{Petalo Mirror}

A great accent piece is Laura Kirar’s Petalo Mirror. It is fun and gorgeous. Is also makes the kind of statement that a high-quality piece of art would. It’s the perfect conversation piece for your room.

{Bauble Drum}

When looking for side tables, Barbara Barry’s Bauble Drum is a great little accent piece. It is another one of the pieces I love because it is more like artwork than a side table, but it still carries the same functionality.

{Swan Table Lamp}

Finally, I love this Swan Table Lamp, also from Barbara Barry’s collection. Its sleek, artistic lines will help to brighten the room.

As we put the final touches on the Baker gallery, I can’t wait to see what arrives next. If you think Baker might be your style, make an appointment to come in and check out the gorgeous new designer collections!
